About us

A roofing family, still on the roof

Williams Roofing & Property Maintenance is run by William Smethurst. His father started in the roofing trade at sixteen, taught William the job on site, and — now 68 — still works alongside him. William's two younger brothers are on the team too, which is why the standard of work matters here more than the size of the invoice.

That grounding shows up most on older buildings. We have worked on several listed properties in Betws-y-Coed, and our own home, The Old School House in Llangefni, is a listed building we have fully refurbished ourselves — currently working through the rear roof. Reclaimed Welsh slate is our specialty, and we are equally comfortable with new Spanish, Chinese, Brazilian and artificial slate, all tile types, and every common flat roof system.

We keep our own scaffold towers for smaller jobs so you are not paying for scaffold you do not need, and where the job genuinely calls for full scaffolding we say so upfront. Reviews mention the same things again and again: clear communication, plenty of photographs, options explained, and no mess left behind — see our customer roofing reviews or browse our slate and flat roofing work in North Wales.
